Mayor Brown and Queen City Pop Up Present: 2022 Shop Small All Season Downtown Dollars Giveaway

Buffalo, New York – Today Mayor Byron W. Brown and the Buffalo Urban Development Corporation’s Queen City Pop Up Program, in partnership with Buffalo Place Inc. and Buy Black Buffalo, launched the 2022 Shop Small ALL Season Downtown Dollars Giveaway. The holiday initiative is designed to help promote Downtown Buffalo as a premier destination for shopping and dining in Western New York. Mayor Brown also issued a proclamation, declaring Saturday, November 26th as Small Business Saturday.

Mayor Brown stated, “Small Business Saturday is a great day to celebrate and support small businesses and all they do for our community. This year, we know that small businesses need our support now more than ever as they navigate, retool and pivot from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic and other challenges. The Shop Small ALL Season Downtown Dollars Giveaway program is a fun way to highlight some of our downtown merchants and restauranteurs, while also rewarding residents who spread the word about the program by giving them a chance to win a gift certificate to participating businesses.”

Buffalo Urban Development Corporation’s Queen City Pop Up Program will be awarding $50 Downtown Dollars Giveaway Certificates to 100 winners from November 25, 2022 through December 9, 2022. The contest will be promoted on social media platforms for Mayor Byron Brown, Queen City Pop Up, Buffalo Place, and Buy Black Buffalo, with a series of live drawings at the upcoming Michigan African American Heritage Corridor Soulful Christmas Market, as well as other collaborations with Queen City Pop Up project partners.

Contest winners may use the Downtown Dollars Certificate at participating business. A full list of participating businesses is featured on www.buffalourbandevelopment.com as well as www.buffaloplace.com.

Mayor Brown added, “As our community continues to recover from the economic conditions brought on by the pandemic, it is critically important to continue supporting our local small business community. We are encouraging everyone to shop in the variety of small business districts throughout the City of Buffalo this holiday season and particularly on Small Business Saturday, November 26, 2022.”

“Over the last several years, BUDC and partners have been working to support the small business community through the Queen City Pop Up project. We are thrilled to present the 2022 Downtown Dollars Giveaway promotion as a fun way for local residents and visitors shop and try out our participating restaurants and retailers this holiday season, said Brandye Merriweather, President of Buffalo Urban Development Corporation.

“We are pleased to participate in the 2022 Shop Small ALL Season: Downtown Dollars Giveaway program in support of the Downtown retail and restaurant community,” said Michael T. Schmand, Executive Director of Buffalo Place, Inc. “We are confident this promotion will shine a spotlight on, and support, our Downtown business community during the holiday season.”
