Residents Invited To Richard Simpson Park Phase II Development Second Open House on August 16, 2022

The Arlington Parks and Recreation Department is excited to receive your feedback on Phase II development plans for Richard Simpson Park at the second public meeting and open house event. This come-and-go meeting is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 16 at the Kathryn Wilemon Lake House Event Center, 6021 W. Arkansas Ln.

Project Background

Richard Simpson Park is a 9-acre City park on the shoreline of Lake Arlington. It is one of only two Arlington parks that provide public access to Lake Arlington for recreational usage. The 2008 bond election included replacement of the lake house facility. The Phase I development, that included design and construction of the new Kathryn Wilemon Lake House Event Center, was completed in 2019. The 2018 Bond Program includes improvements for Phase II development.

The Phase II development will provide site amenities such as playground areas with swings, pavilion, pedestrian pathway connections, picnic stations, (floating) boat house, lakeview overlook area, fishing pier, parking lot improvements, and landscaping.

The first public meeting and open house for Phase II development took place on June 1, 2022. Residents are invited to provide further input as the Arlington Parks and Recreation Department continues to plan and implement these improvements.

If you are unable to attend the open house but still want to provide input, please contact Parks Project Manager Mitali Mandlekar at 817-459-5478, [email protected], or write a letter to Mitali at:
