Early Voting for June 18, 2022, Runoff Election Starts June 6, Ends June 14

Early voting for the City of Arlington's June 18, 2022, Runoff Election begins Monday, June 6 and will continue through Tuesday, June 14. Arlington voters will elect an at-large District 6 City Council representative in the runoff election. Arlington voters may vote at any Early Voting location in Tarrant County during the Early Voting period. On Election Day on June 18, voters have 28 voting locations in Arlington in which to cast their ballot. Learn more about the City of Arlington’s Runoff Election.

Celebrate 4th of July at Light Up Arlington Fireworks Show, 2022 Independence Day Parade

Celebrate Independence Day in Downtown Arlington with live music, kid-friendly activities, food trucks and a spectacular firework display on Sunday, July 3 followed by a red, white and blue, fun-filled parade on Monday, July 4. View the weekend schedule and tips for the events.

Festivities, which are free and open to the public, start at 6 p.m. July 3 at Parks and Recreation Department's annual Light Up Arlington. The celebration in Downtown Arlington includes some of the top musical acts in the Dallas-Fort Worth region, vendors, food trucks and plenty of kid-friendly fun. The fireworks display, which lasts about 20 minutes, is scheduled to start at 9:50 p.m. and will be set to music on 95.9 The Ranch FM. Fireworks will be shot from the roof of City Tower, which is located east of City Hall.

Head on back to Downtown on Monday morning for the beloved Arlington Independence Day Parade, which started in 1965 and is billed as the oldest, longest running event in the city. Be sure to arrive early for the parade, which kicks off at 9 a.m. The theme for this year's parade is “E Pluribus Unum - Out of Many, One,” which is a traditional United States motto adopted by Congress in 1782.

Second Annual Arlington Juneteenth Jubilee to Feature Live Music, Art, Day of Service, ‘Echoes from The Hill’ Premiere and More

The second annual Arlington Juneteenth Jubilee, July 17 – 19, will host a variety of events designed to feed the mind, body and spirit. One of the highlights from the Arlington Juneteenth Jubilee will be the premiere of the first episode of the “Echoes from The Hill” docuseries. Other activities will include live music and poetry readings, dancing, shopping, food trucks, an ecumenical service and volunteer opportunities throughout the community. Most of the activities will be held in Downtown Arlington and are free to the public. View a list of events.

Events will also include activities previously planned for this year’s Arlington Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration, which was postponed from January because of the coronavirus pandemic.  Register as an individual or organization for the Zeb Strong Jr. MLK Day of Service, which begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 18. Volunteer opportunities, available for all age groups, include sprucing up lawns for residents in need and sorting donations at Mission Arlington. Volunteers are asked to gather at 9 a.m. at Mission Arlington/Mission Metroplex, 400 W. South St., for their community assignments. Fill out a volunteer registration form and learn more about the MLK Day of Service.

City Completes Voter-Approved Road Improvements on Five Residential Streets in East Arlington

The Public Works Department is pleased to announce that after 10 months of work, major construction to rebuild portions of five residential streets in East Arlington has been completed. Since August 2021, contractors had been working on roadway and other infrastructure improvements on the following streets:

  • Brookshire Street (from Carter Drive to Greenway Street)
  • Catalo Lane (from Carter Drive to SH360)
  • Hensley Street (from S. Collins Street to Moore Terrace)
  • Randolph Street (from Sunnyvale Drive to Lackland Street)
  • Stonegate Street (from Carter Drive to Buena Vista Drive)
