Kenny Electric participated in Take our Kids to Work Day on April 28th, 2022. They had 6 parents (grandparent) and 9 children participate. The children made a lantern, rode on the scissor lift, launched a water bottle rocket, learned how electricity worked by wiring up a light, and then finished the day off with a BBQ lunch and ice cream sundae bar.
History about Take our Kids to Work Day:
This day is also known as Take Our Sons and Daughters to Work Day. Before, Take Our Kids to Work Day was mostly focused on young girls. This educational program was launched by Ms. Foundation for Women in 1993. The purpose behind this day was to familiarize young girls with the reality of a workplace. Later on, the program also included taking boys to workplaces.
In the year 2018, nearly 3.5 million workplaces took part in Take Our Sons and Daughters to Work Day. This day started as an educational program in the United States and Canada, on which parents could take their kids to work for one day. As a result of this day, children get to learn about the workforce and they can see the different roles that are carried out by people to run a business. They might even find their interest in one of the fields.
