Town of Hanna recently issued the following announcement.
Once a week, leading up to Emergency Preparedness Week in May, we will be sharing some things you could be doing to prepare for an unexpected event. You will be seeing #BePrepared used locally, regionally, and provincially. Each week we will give you one small step to becoming more prepared.
Get Informed and Stay Informed
61% of Albertans have signed up to receive public alerts and emergency messaging. The information helps us to better prepare for and respond to threats, which can occur quickly and change suddenly.
Visit Alerts and Advisories and sign up for Alberta Emergency Alerts. Here you can also learn about what other alerting services are available to you.
Start a conversation with your family and co-workers. What are your trusted sources for emergency information? Here are a few we could think of:
- Alberta Emergency Alert Mobile app
- Alberta Emergency Alerts website
- AMBER Alerts
- Alberta Parks Advisories (issued by Alberta Parks)
- Wildfire Status and Fire Bans (issued by AB Agriculture, Forestry….)
- Road and Weather Alerts (511)
- Town of Hanna Notifications – see below
Register for Hanna Alerts
The Town of Hanna alert system is used to issue alerts in the event of an emergency or an event that may impact you. You will receive a time-sensitive text message and phone call on your mobile phone. If you have provided a landline number, you will receive a phone call with an automated voice. Notifications include, but are not limited to:
- Public Safety Alerts such as water, fire, RCMP, or any event which is considered an immediate threat to the safety and well-being of some or all Hanna residents.
- Local events such as water supply issues or snow removal schedules based on your residential address.
