City of Douglas recently issued the following announcement.
The Douglas-Coffee County Land Bank Authority held a Lunch & Learn session and hosted the Center for Community Progress members on Monday, March 21, 2022, at the Ashley-Slater House in Douglas, Georgia. Odetta MacLeish-White (Director of Georgia Initiatives), and Sara Toering (Senior Fellow), gave a presentation on Land Banking 101. The meeting was an opportunity for members of the Land Bank to gain knowledge of resources and to strengthen on building partnerships. An open Q&A session proved beneficial for the Land Bank to focus on strategic methods to move the local program forward.
Aside from special guests, Land Bank Authority members in attendance were Cindy McNeill (Chairperson), Benny Dockery, and Adam Lott. Also attending were Charles Davis (City Manager), Georgia Henderson (Community Development Director), Ebonee Dobson (City Planner), Rodger Goddard (City Marshal), and Alyssa Fussell (Administrative Assistant).
The Center for Community Progress is a leading national nonprofit resource for urban, suburban, and rural communities that seeks to address the full cycle of property revitalization. The nonprofit works with state and local governments, national partners, and resident leaders to reform vacant property systems and policies, ensuring these properties are returned to productive use that benefit the surrounding community.
