WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator John Barrasso, the ranking member of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, has voiced his criticism of the Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) final methane rule.
In a statement released today, Senator Barrasso stated, “The Bureau of Land Management’s final rule is a solution in search of a problem. The Environmental Protection Agency and the State of Wyoming already regulate methane emissions from oil and natural gas production. Rather than imposing yet another layer of red tape on American energy production, the Biden administration should take steps to unleash oil and natural gas production on federal lands.”
The final methane rule issued by the BLM has faced opposition from Senator Barrasso, who believes that existing regulations are sufficient and that additional restrictions could hinder energy production on federal lands.
