The Public Works Department is pleased to announce that after 18 months of construction, work to transform Calender Road from Curry Road to Harris Drive from a two-lane county type asphalt road to a three-lane concrete road is complete. The completion of major construction was delayed an additional four months due to issues in obtaining materials necessary to address a structural deficiency identified in February.
In addition to rebuilding the roadway with 19,000 square yards of concrete for roadway and bike lanes, the project also brought the following improvements to the area:
- Construction of roundabouts at the Curry and Kuykendall Road intersections
- Installation of 4,600 square yards of sidewalks
- Construction of 29 ADA compliant pedestrian ramps
- Installation of 3,940 linear feet of water lines
- Installation of 1,990 linear feet of sanitary sewer lines
- Installation of 3,350 linear feet of stormwater infrastructure
- Installation of 31 new streetlights
The TDP is a long-range planning tool that assists city staff in making decisions about the City’s transportation network. The TDP also allows for the testing of various transportation scenarios, including the impact that new land uses and demographic information potentially has on the number of lanes, level of service, delay, connectivity, and other measures of effectiveness.
