Senator John Barrasso, representing Wyoming in the U.S. Senate and a member of the Republican Party, recently posted a series of statements on his social media account regarding Senate confirmations and national conditions over the past year.

On September 4, 2025, Barrasso wrote, “145 nominees are still awaiting Senate confirmation because Chuck Schumer and the Democrats froze the Senate floor. More than half of these nominees received bipartisan support in committees. @SenateGOP is prepared to change the rules and restore regular order.”

The following day, September 5, 2025, he commented on changes he observed during recent travels across his home state: “What a difference a year makes. A year ago, families worried about high prices and open borders. Last month, I traveled across Wyoming & heard a different story. America is safer, stronger, & more prosperous. Our nation is getting back on track thanks to @POTUS & Republicans.”

Later that same day, Barrasso addressed ongoing political negotiations in Congress: “.@POTUS and Republicans in Congress were elected to get America back on track. There is significant support across @SenateGOP to make sure that the president gets his team in place despite historic Democrat obstruction.”

Barrasso’s remarks come as partisan tensions have continued over federal nominations in the U.S. Senate. Historically, both parties have used procedural tactics to delay or block presidential appointments; however, such disputes have intensified in recent years as control of the chamber has shifted narrowly between Democrats and Republicans.

According to congressional records and public reporting from recent sessions (see https://www.congress.gov), delays in confirmation votes can leave key government positions unfilled for extended periods—affecting agency operations and policy implementation.

As a senior member of Republican leadership in the Senate and representative for Wyoming since 2007 (see https://www.barrasso.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/about-john), Barrasso’s statements reflect broader concerns within his party about legislative gridlock and its impact on governance.
