Senator John Barrasso, representing Wyoming, posted a series of statements on his social media account on October 14 and 15, 2025. The posts addressed both a White House ceremony and ongoing political disagreements in the U.S. Senate.

On October 14, Barrasso commented on an event at the White House: “It was an honor to be at the @WhiteHouse today to commemorate the life and legacy of Charlie Kirk as @POTUS posthumously awarded him the Medal of Freedom. Charlie’s faith and love of country should be an inspiration to all of us.”

Later that day, Barrasso criticized Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats regarding government funding votes. He wrote: “Senator Schumer handed the reins to the far-left wing, and now they’re driving the stagecoach over the cliff.

It’s a mistake. It’s an error. And it’s hurting the American people.

8 times Dems have voted to shut down the government. 8 times @SenateGOP has voted to keep it open.” This message was posted on October 14, 2025.

On October 15, Barrasso continued his criticism of Senate Democrats with another statement: “Today’s Democrat party has completely surrendered to the radical left. They’ve abandoned the American workers, the American people, and American families.

Now, Senate Democrats are holding the government hostage and the safety of the American people is on the line.”

Senator John Barrasso serves as Wyoming’s senior senator and is a member of Republican leadership in Congress. His remarks reflect ongoing partisan disputes over federal budget negotiations in recent years, which have resulted in several high-profile standoffs between Democratic and Republican lawmakers over government funding measures.
