Senator Cynthia Lummis, representing Wyoming in the U.S. Senate, marked several occasions related to military service and community recognition in a series of social media posts on September 18 and 19, 2025.
On September 18, Lummis acknowledged the anniversary of the United States Air Force. She wrote, “Today, we celebrate 78 years of @usairforce ! From F.E. Warren AFB, to our other bases around the world, Airmen defend our freedom every day. We are grateful for their service.” The Air Force was established as a separate branch of the U.S. military in 1947.
Later that day, she highlighted her staff’s participation at a local event honoring a former member of Congress. Lummis stated on September 18: “My staff attended the 27th Annual Awards & Recognition Breakfast hosted by the Boys & Girls Club of Central Wyoming, celebrating my friend and former Representative Barbara Cubin. Congratulations, Barbara!” The Boys & Girls Club of Central Wyoming annually recognizes individuals who have contributed to youth development and public service in the region.
On September 19, Lummis posted about National POW/MIA Recognition Day: “Today, we honor the courage and sacrifice of all POW and MIA service members and their families. Their heroism reminds us that freedom is never free. Our nation remains forever indebted to these brave men and women.” This observance is held annually across the United States to recognize prisoners of war (POWs) and those missing in action (MIA), along with their families.
F.E. Warren Air Force Base is located near Cheyenne, Wyoming—Senator Lummis’s home state—and has been an active military installation since before World War II.
