Senator Cynthia Lummis, representing Wyoming in the U.S. Senate, posted a series of tweets on July 30, 2025, addressing her concerns about the National Education Association (NEA) and recent legislative actions she has taken.

In a tweet at 15:23 UTC, Lummis wrote, “Great piece from @DeAngelisCorey on why we need to rein in the NEA. I introduced a bill last week to do just that because the NEA has gone so far to the left that they’ve completely forgotten who they are supposed to serve – our students, educators, parents.”

Shortly after, at 15:28 UTC, she posted another message stating, “Promises made, promises kept.”

Later in the day at 16:47 UTC, Lummis commented further on the NEA’s actions following her legislative proposal: “The NEA should be focused on our students, not politics. It’s not a coincidence that after I introduced the STUDENT Act, the NEA removed their handbook from the website”.

The National Education Association is one of the largest labor unions in the United States and represents public school teachers and other support personnel. The STUDENT Act referenced by Senator Lummis is part of ongoing debates over education policy and union influence in schools.
