Senator Cynthia Lummis, representing Wyoming in the U.S. Senate, addressed ongoing government funding issues and recognized a Wyoming service member in a series of posts on her official X account.

On November 6, 2025, Senator Lummis expressed gratitude to Secretary Duffy for efforts related to national safety. She wrote, “Thank you, @SecDuffy, for prioritizing the safety of all Americans.

Senate Republicans have voted 14 times to avoid this exact chaos. We need to reopen the government and pay our air traffic controllers and TSA agents.”

Later that day, she criticized Senate Democrats’ voting record regarding government funding measures. In her post dated November 6, 2025, Lummis stated: “Senate Democrats have had 14 opportunities to fund the government.

And every time, they have chosen to vote against SNAP families, our troops, air traffic controllers, TSA agents, and federal law enforcement officers.

For the American people, we must reopen the government.”

On November 7, 2025, Senator Lummis highlighted Lt. Rebecca Ryan’s achievements as a member of the U.S. Navy from Wyoming who was accepted into an elite training program. She posted: “Lt. Rebecca Ryan is making the Cowboy State proud & living out her Top Gun dreams.

Thank you for your service to our country, and to Wyoming. Click below to read more about Rebecca’s journey to the U.S. Navy Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor program.”

The recent statements by Senator Lummis come amid a period of legislative gridlock over federal budget appropriations in Congress—a situation that has led to partial shutdowns affecting agencies such as the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and impacting programs like SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program). The debate over funding has seen repeated votes in both chambers without resolution.

Lt. Rebecca Ryan’s recognition reflects ongoing efforts by lawmakers from Wyoming to highlight state residents serving in prominent military roles across national defense programs.
