Senator Cynthia Lummis shares condolences and addresses government shutdown in recent posts

Senator Cynthia Lummis, representing Wyoming in the U.S. Senate, posted a series of statements on her official X (formerly Twitter) account between November 3 and November 4, 2025. The tweets included comments on flight disruptions, condolences to the Cheney family, and remarks about the ongoing federal government shutdown.

On November 3, Lummis addressed travel delays with a pointed message: “Flight delayed or cancelled? Blame a Democrat.”

The following day, she offered sympathies to a prominent Wyoming political family: “Sending condolences and prayers to Lynne, Liz, Mary, and the entire Cheney family.”

Later on November 4, Lummis commented on the status of federal funding and the ongoing government shutdown: “Senate Republicans just voted for the fourteenth time to fund SNAP, pay our air traffic controllers and TSA agents, and pay our troops.

This is the longest full shutdown in U.S. history. It’s time to stop holding the American people hostage and reopen the government.”

The current government shutdown has surpassed previous records as the longest in U.S. history. Essential services such as air traffic control and airport security have been affected during this period, with federal workers including TSA agents working without pay or being furloughed. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) also faces funding uncertainty during extended shutdowns.

Senator Lummis’s remarks reflect both her support for resuming critical government functions and her ongoing engagement with constituents regarding national events.
