The U.S. Senate has approved legislation led by Senator Cynthia Lummis to overturn the Biden administration’s Buffalo Field Office Resource Management Plan Amendment (RMPA), which sought to end future coal mining in Wyoming’s Powder River Basin.
Senator Lummis expressed support for the passage of the bill, stating, “The passage of this legislation through both the Senate and the House is great news for Wyoming and our workers in the Powder River Basin. Wyoming energy has powered this country for decades and we won’t allow far-left Biden administration bureaucrats to unilaterally destroy entire industries and communities just because they wanted to please their environmental donor base. I’m glad that we are sending this bill to President Trump so that he can sign it and help secure America’s energy future.”
Senator John Barrasso also commented on the Senate vote: “Today, the Senate voted to support Wyoming’s energy workers and coal communities. We reversed another one of the many bad Joe Biden runaway regulations. This outrageous rule cut off access to one of our strongest resources – Wyoming coal. I’m proud of our delegation for fighting until we reversed this job-killing rule for good. Together with the Trump administration we’re unleashing Wyoming energy and getting America back on track.”
Congresswoman Harriet Hageman added, “Thanks to Senators Lummis and Barrasso’s strong leadership in the Senate, H.J. Res. 130 is headed to the President’s desk, and we are one step closer to repealing the Biden administration’s disastrous Buffalo RMPA. Wyoming coal powers this country, and once this misguided, ideologically driven policy is overturned, we can better meet our nation’s growing energy demands.”
The bill now moves forward for presidential consideration.
