Sen. John Barrasso, a U.S. Senator from Wyoming and member of the Senate Republican leadership, has used his social media platform to comment on recent developments in the ongoing federal government shutdown.

On October 31, 2025, Barrasso posted: “13 votes in the Senate to:

– fund food assistance
– pay the troops
– pay federal workers
– pay TSA agents and air traffic controllers
– pay Border Patrol
– pay Capitol Police

@SenateGOP 13 times: YES
@SenateDems 13 times: NO

This is the Democrat Shutdown.”

The following day, November 1, 2025, Barrasso continued to address the shutdown’s impact on Americans’ access to federal programs. He wrote: “42 million Americans lost food assistance this morning because Democrats are more worried about giving free healthcare to illegal immigrants.

Families count on this assistnace. Democrats will let them go hungry to continue playing political games.

End the shutdown.”

Shifting focus from national politics to local community events, Barrasso highlighted a charitable initiative on November 2, 2025: “Cowboys Against Cancer’s annual benefit banquet in Rock Springs brings local community members together to raise funds for those battling cancer. It was wonderful to see another huge turnout this year to support such a worthy cause.”

Government shutdowns occur when Congress fails to pass funding legislation for federal agencies and programs. During such periods, essential services may continue but many government operations are suspended or limited until funding is restored. Food assistance programs like SNAP can be disrupted if appropriations lapse, affecting millions of Americans who rely on these benefits.
