Sen. John Barrasso, U.S. Senator representing Wyoming and a member of the Republican Party, made several posts on his social media account on September 18, 2025, addressing recent federal budget negotiations and local business developments.

In a post published at 17:15 UTC, Barrasso criticized Democratic lawmakers for their approach to government funding, stating: “Democrats want a ransom payment of over $1 trillion to keep the government open for just 4 weeks.”

Later that day, at 19:27 UTC, he expanded on his concerns regarding government spending by posting: “Democrats have a long and spirited history of wasting taxpayer dollars. This plan is no different.

COVID bonus payments. Taxpayer funded healthcare for illegal immigrants. Foreign climate projects. This is fantasyland.”

In addition to commenting on national fiscal policy, Barrasso highlighted his engagement with local business leaders in another post at 22:24 UTC: “This week, I welcomed the @CheyenneChamber back to our nation’s capital. Formed in 1907, this chamber has been responsible for Cheyenne’s continued success and business innovation. It was wonderful to hear how the One Big Beautiful Bill is helping businesses across southeast”

The comments from Barrasso come amid ongoing debates in Congress over short-term funding measures intended to prevent a government shutdown. Disagreements between parties over spending priorities and supplemental funding requests have led to contentious negotiations in recent years.

The Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce, established in 1907, continues to play an active role in promoting economic growth and supporting businesses within Wyoming’s capital city.
