Sen. John Barrasso, U.S. Senator from Wyoming, has recently used his social media platform to highlight perceived inconsistencies in statements made by fellow senators regarding government shutdowns and to comment on the release of hostages after a prolonged period.
On October 11, 2025, Barrasso referenced remarks by Senator Amy Klobuchar, quoting her as saying, “.@SenAmyKlobuchar: ‘Shutdowns are not good for the economy.’ She’s voted 7 times to shut down the government.”
The following day, October 12, 2025, Barrasso turned his attention to Senator Brian Schatz, quoting him as saying, “.@SenBrianSchatz: ‘I’ve seen the same thing over and over again. Shutdowns don’t work. No one wins. But Americans have a lot to lose.’ He voted 7 times to shut down the government.”
On October 13, 2025, Barrasso posted about the release of hostages who had been held for more than two years, expressing gratitude to former President Donald Trump for his efforts. He stated, “After over two years, the hostages are free and home with their families. Thank you, @POTUS Trump for your unwavering commitment to Israel and to peace.”
Senator Barrasso’s comments come amid ongoing debates in Congress over federal funding and the recurring threat of government shutdowns, which have historically resulted from legislative impasses over budgetary issues.
