Sen. John Barrasso, U.S. Senator representing Wyoming, shared several updates on his official X account between November 12 and November 14, 2025, addressing topics ranging from personal tributes to legislative developments and local energy initiatives.

On November 12, Barrasso posted a tribute to Susan Anderson, writing: “Susan Anderson was both a marvel and a maverick. She took a different path than other people might have taken, and it was all the better for the state of Wyoming.

Susan was a trusted advisor, both politically and personally, and a treasured friend. I miss her deeply.”

The following day, November 13, Barrasso commented on recent Senate proceedings after an impasse in government funding had ended: “Thanks to the leadership and determination of @SenatorCollins, the Schumer Shutdown is over.

The Senate will now get to work passing full year appropriations bills that strengthen our economy, invest in our servicemembers, and promote fiscal responsibility.” The mention of “Schumer Shutdown” refers to the recent temporary halt in government operations due to stalled budget negotiations—a situation resolved through bipartisan efforts led by Senator Susan Collins.

On November 14, Barrasso highlighted his visit to Belle Ayr Mine in Gillette: “What a wonderful day to visit Gillette’s Belle Ayr Mine. Wyoming coal and our coal miners are essential to our energy independence. Thanks to @AFPWyoming for celebrating American energy with their Road to Prosperity Tour!” The Belle Ayr Mine is one of the largest surface coal mines in the United States and plays a significant role in Wyoming’s economy as well as national energy production.

Barrasso’s remarks reflect ongoing discussions about federal budget priorities and highlight Wyoming’s position within national debates over energy policy. His acknowledgment of Susan Anderson underscores her influence within state politics as an advisor and confidante.
