Sen. John Barrasso, U.S. Senator from Wyoming and Senate Republican whip, posted a series of statements on social media in mid-April 2026 addressing border security and tax policy.

On April 14, Barrasso commented on recent actions by Democrats regarding immigration enforcement: “Democrats have spent the past two months trying to handcuff ICE and Border Patrol agents. Republicans are going to make sure that ICE and Border Patrol are fully funded for as long as President Trump is in the White House.”

The following day, April 15—Tax Day—he discussed tax refunds and recent legislation: “This Tax Day, Americans across the country are seeing smaller tax bills & bigger tax returns. The average refund this year is over $3,400. That’s much higher than last year. Americans have more money in their pockets because Republicans passed the Working Families Tax Cuts law.”

Later on April 15, Barrasso addressed previous Democratic votes on taxes: “Democrats voted for the largest tax increase in American history. They voted to raise taxes on families, on workers, and on small businesses. Republicans permanently lowered taxes. We did it for hardworking families and small businesses.”

Senator Barrasso resides with his three children in Casper and operates multiple offices across Wyoming to serve constituents (official website). He chairs the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee’s Public Lands, Forests and Mining Subcommittee and has been recognized as Wyoming Physician of the Year for his work as an orthopedic surgeon (official website). Barrasso’s legislative priorities include supporting energy affordability, public lands management, economic growth, national parks, trade issues, and opportunities for Wyoming ranchers (official website).
