Senate Western Caucus Chair Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) has expressed support for the nomination of former Congressman Steve Pearce (R-NM) as the next Director of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The announcement follows President Trump’s decision to select Pearce for the position.

In a statement, Lummis said, “I am pleased that President Trump has nominated my friend and former House colleague, Steve Pearce, to serve as the next Director of the Bureau of Land Management. Steve’s leadership will be invaluable in managing our public lands and wisely stewarding our resources. This nomination is a major win for Wyoming and the entire west, and I’m glad to see such a crucial role filled by someone so well qualified. I urge a swift confirmation.”

Pearce previously served in Congress representing New Mexico and has experience with issues related to public land management.
