Gather Supplies – #BePrepared

Gather Supplies – #BePrepared
0Comments

Town of Hanna recently issued the following announcement.

Once a week, leading up to Emergency Preparedness Week in May, we will be sharing some things you could be doing to prepare for an unexpected event. You will be seeing #BePrepared used locally, regionally, and provincially. Each week we will give you one small step to becoming more prepared.

Do I Need an Emergency Kit?

Only 51% of Albertans have gathered enough supplies to stay safe during disruptions. A disruption can affect grocery stores, pharmacies, gas stations, and banking services. Having supplies is one thing you can do to help manage unexpected situations, whether they are big or small.

What Goes in My Kit?

  • You can simply buy a pre-packaged kit. Some are found at pharmacies
  • You can create different kits for different purposes (home, vehicle, pets)
  • The following link directs you to a checklist. Don’t let it overwhelm you. Just get started!

Register for Hanna Alerts

Thurs. April 28 is the last day to register for the Town alerts to be included in the May 4 test alert! The Town of Hanna text notification system is used to issue alerts in the event of an emergency or an event that may impact you. You will receive a time-sensitive text message and phone call on your mobile phone. If you have provided a landline number, you will receive a phone call with an automated voice. Notifications include, but are not limited to:

  • Public Safety Alerts such as water, fire, RCMP, or any event which is considered an immediate threat to the safety and well-being of some or all Hanna residents.
  • Local events such as water supply issues or snow removal schedules based on your residential address.

NOTE: This does NOT replace the Alberta Emergency Alert. Register today for the notification alerts by visiting Hanna Alert System on our website. A test alert will be issued during National Emergency Preparedness week in May.
