Senator Cynthia Lummis, who represents Wyoming in the U.S. Senate, posted a series of statements on August 1, 2025, addressing topics ranging from military service to federal oversight and education policy.
In her first post at 14:08 UTC, Senator Lummis expressed appreciation for Brigadier General Alkire’s service. She wrote, “Grateful for Brig. Gen. Alkire’s years of service to Wyoming and our country. He will serve the Army National Guard well as deputy surgeon general, congratulations!”
Later that day at 15:32 UTC, she commented on the National Education Association (NEA) and its pursuit of a federal charter. In her tweet, Lummis stated, “If the NEA wants a federal charter, they need to act like it instead of pushing a radical political agenda.”
By 17:52 UTC, Senator Lummis addressed concerns about transparency within the Federal Reserve system. She noted the process by which the Inspector General (IG) is appointed and advocated for increased independence in this role. Her tweet read: “The Inspector General of the Federal Reserve is appointed by… the Fed Chair.
We can’t have transparency & accountability until the IG has statutory independence. Proud to partner with @SenRickScott to bring the Federal Reserve out of the shadows. Listen below.” The issue of Federal Reserve oversight has been an ongoing topic in Congress; some lawmakers have called for reforms granting more autonomy to watchdogs overseeing financial institutions.
Senator Lummis has previously been active in discussions related to both national defense and financial regulation as part of her legislative work representing Wyoming.
