Cost of attending Casper College increases for all students in 2022-23 school year

According to recent disclosures, in-state tuition at Casper College rose by 1.4% for the 2022-23 school year, according to the latest disclosure from the National Center for Education Statistics.

Wyoming residents paid $3,528 to attend the two-year public college this year, which is $822 less than the $4,350 charged in the 2021-22 academic year.

Non-resident students were charged 142.9% more than in-state students during the 2022-23 school year, paying $8,568. This represents a 19.5% decrease from the $10,650 fee in 2021-22.

Approximately 82% of Casper College’s undergraduate students are Wyoming residents, while about 14% come from other states and 4% are international students.

Data indicates that 94% of full-time undergraduates who enrolled at Casper College in 2022-23 received some form of financial aid. A total of 415 students were awarded grants or scholarships amounting to $2.3 million, and 87 students borrowed more than $425,783 in student loans.

Across all undergraduates, 1,529 students received grants or scholarships totaling $8.3 million. Additionally, 474 students obtained federal student loans amounting to $2.6 million.

Undergraduate education costs have seen a significant increase over the past few decades. Data shows a 169% rise in the average total cost, including tuition, fees, room, and board, between 1980 and 2020.

According to a 2023 College Board report, in-state students at public universities paid an average of $11,260, while out-of-state students paid $29,150 in the 2023-24 academic year.

Meanwhile, student loan debt has steadily increased over the last 30 years, reaching $1.75 trillion in 2024, averaging a total of $28,950 per borrower. Federal loans make up 92% of the debt, with over half of students at both public and private four-year colleges graduating with student loans.
