Town of Edgerton recently issued the following announcement.
Each year the Edgerton City Council sets the City’s budget for the coming year. This process starts in October of the year prior when Council votes on the Five-Year Capital Improvement Plan but kicks into high gear each summer before a final vote is taken in September.
Council members will hear funding requests from outside agencies during the May 26 City Council meeting. On July 7, City Council will have a budget work session to review the draft of the 2023 budget. A public hearing on the 2023 budget is set for August 25. Any changes are then made before Council adopts the budget at the following meeting on September 8.
The budget sets the maximum amount of money that the City can spend each year. The budget details how the City uses its resources to meet community priorities and organizational objectives, like the recently completed 207th Street Grade Separation Project or the upcoming community gathering space, The Greenspace.
Since 2007, Edgerton’s mill rate has dropped 35% as home values have climbed. The average property owner in Edgerton pays less than $49 per month for all City services, which includes roads, snow removal, parks, codes and law enforcement among other services.
